One local company. One call for everything your property needs.

Four generations, one town. In 1941, my great-grandfather, Dana A. Nash Sr., and his wife, Barbara, founded a pumping service in Abington. In 1969, my grandfather, a Vietnam veteran, took it over and ran it as Nash Pumping & Excavating from the same garage. My father, a U.S. Marine, learned the trade working beside him before founding his own landscaping company. Today, I carry that legacy forward across the South Shore.

My great-grandfather, Dana A. Nash Sr., and his wife, Barbara, founded the family’s first company in Abington. After serving in World War II, Dana Sr. came home and kept the business running.
My grandfather, Dana A. Nash Jr., a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War, ran the business from the same garage, providing septic pumping and repair, new septic systems, sewer connections and excavation.
My father, John A. DeMarco III, a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, learned the trade working for my grandfather. In 2002, he founded his own company.

My father expanded the company into utility and state contract work.

For as long as I can remember, I was at my dad’s side.
I ran the machines, plowed through winter storms, rode along to estimates and ran errands with him. I was his sidekick, the way every son wants to be with his dad. By my senior year of high school I had customers of my own, and some of them are still with me today.
When we lost him in April 2025, I knew it was my time. I came home and built J.A. DeMarco LLC to carry forward everything he worked to build. Today we care for 100+ residential and commercial properties across the South Shore.
“On every job, I ask myself what my dad would say if he were here. I can hear him the entire time I’m working.”
From routine maintenance to full-scale site work, we deliver dependable service for residential and commercial properties across the South Shore.

Same backyard, same stone-edged path. We refreshed every bed with black mulch and installed new plantings.

“We are so happy with the fall cleanup service we received! The team was fantastic to work with — friendly, efficient, and they clearly take pride in their work. … Highly recommended!”
“Johnny responds quickly and efficiently. He follows through with his commitments. … I liked that they cleaned up the leaves from the street, especially over the drains. I would definitely use them again”
“I had John and his crew do a spring cleanup with a thorough raking, and they did an outstanding job. Then a mowing with weed whacking and blowing the decks, driveway, and walkways, and they did the best job of anyone I've ever had do it.”

It started in 1941, in one garage in Abington.

1941Generation I · The PioneerDana A. Nash Sr. · Dana A. Nash Pumping ServiceHe started the family’s first company in one Abington garage, left to serve in World War II, and came home to keep it going.
The story begins in 1941. Alongside his wife, Barbara, my great-grandfather started our family’s first company right here in Abington. Then he left to serve his country in World War II, came home, and kept the business going. He also worked as a plant foreman at a factory. He proved that an honest day’s work and a handshake were the best foundation a business could have.

1969Generation II · The VeteranDana A. Nash Jr. · Nash Pumping & ExcavatingA Vietnam veteran took over the same garage and grew the work into septic systems, sewer connections and excavation.
A lifelong Abington resident, my Grampy served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. From 1969 he owned and operated the family business out of the same garage: septic pumping and repair, new septic systems, sewer connections and excavation. Over the years it was also known as Dana A. Nash & Son and Dana A. Nash Excavating.

2002Generation III · The CraftsmanJohn A. DeMarco III · J DeMarco & Son LandscapingHe learned the trade under his father-in-law, then started a company of his own and named it for the two of us.

My dad learned the trade working for my Grampy, his father-in-law. In 2002 he started his own company and named it for the two of us. For more than 20 years he blended our family’s excavation roots with landscaping and hardscaping, and he taught me the trades from the ground up: the quality of your work is your signature.

Dad, a Marine veteran rated 100% disabled, took the company toward utility and state work.
April 2025Losing DadWe lost my dad to suicide after years of living with PTSD. He left behind three children, my older sister, my younger sister and me, along with my stepmom. I had the choice to sell everything or prove myself. The moment I got the phone call, I knew I would keep everything my dad had ever fought for.
The hardest part has been doing it without him: running a company while finishing my degree in another state, and grieving both of my parents, gone within three years.

In loving memoryJohn Albert DeMarco IIIJohn Albert DeMarco III, of Abington, died suddenly on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, at 47 years old.
John was born in Boston on January 2, 1978, and was raised in Middleboro, Massachusetts. He attended local schools and was a proud graduate of Middleboro High School, Class of 1996. From an early age, he showed a love for the outdoors, family, and—most of all—hockey, where he led as the hockey captain in Randolph.
Following high school, John enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. His service reflected the same courage and determination that defined every part of his life. He was honorably discharged, leaving the Marines with the deep respect of his brothers-in-arms and all who knew him.
John was the proud owner of J. DeMarco Inc., a successful construction business based in Abington, Massachusetts. He could operate just about any piece of heavy equipment put in front of him.
John found joy in the simple things: Italian cooking, nature walks, relaxing on the beach in Aruba, spending time with family, hunting and fishing in Maine, and having the most epic firework displays. He was a kid at heart who cherished Christmas, pulled legendary April Fools’ pranks, and never passed up the chance to tell a great joke—usually with perfect timing.
But more than anything, John loved his family. Whether gathered around the table or out in nature, his presence was larger than life. John will be deeply missed, but his stories, laughter, and spirit live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
John was the devoted father of Taiylor, Johnny, and Alisiana DeMarco, all of Abington. He was the cherished son of Anne M. (Cahill) Larson and her husband, Andrew of Sarasota, Florida, and the late John A. DeMarco Jr., and his wife, Linda of Brockton. He is survived by his siblings, Danielle DeMarco of Brockton, Sean Larson, Andy Larson, and Renée Glennon, all of Connecticut. He is also survived by his long-time partner, Mia Castiglia of Connecticut, and many loving extended family members and friends. John was preceded in death by his brother, Anthony M. DeMarco.

September 2025Generation IV · The FutureJohn A. DeMarco · J.A. DeMarco LLCAt 22, I closed my father’s chapter the right way and rebuilt from the ground up, carrying forward everything he worked to build.
I founded J.A. DeMarco LLC to properly close the chapter on my father’s company and rebuild from the ground up—carrying forward everything he worked to build. Today, as the great-grandson of Dana A. Nash Sr., I’m proud to own and operate a fourth-generation business running our own fleet of excavators, loaders, and skid steers.
Quite literally, I’ve done this work beside my dad my entire life. If you knew him, you already know the standard he held himself to and how he raised me to work. It was already my turn to prove myself to him while he was still here. Now, I push myself three steps further on every site so that anyone who watches us work remembers my father and sees him through me.
Stepping up at 22 to keep his legacy alive meant proving myself in an industry full of men decades older than me. Plenty of people look at my age and make assumptions—and that’s fine. I’ve been through a lot in a short amount of time, and I learned this trade from the ground up, in the dirt, from day one. I know what I’m doing, and I let the work speak for itself.
Join our family.Watch us grow and be part of something bigger than a company.

We now take care of 100+ residential and commercial properties across all our services, throughout the South Shore, all year round.
Over the next five years, I want to add electrical, plumbing and HVAC so J.A. DeMarco LLC can take care of everything your home needs, inside and out.
One call. One number. The same familiar faces you trust, protecting your home.
We aren’t a corporate franchise or an overnight crew. We’re four generations of Abington blood, sweat and heavy machinery, each one handing the work to the next. When you work with us, you’re hiring a family tradition that dates back to 1941, and a son who decided to keep everything his dad ever fought for.

Everything I do with this company, I do to honor my dad.
My dad loved nothing more than his friends, his family and his company. He was a stern man who loved hockey, and he believed that if your name is on the truck, the job had better be right. That’s still how we work.
When we lost him in April 2025, I was at the University of Tampa studying finance. I took a year off from school and came home so what he built wouldn’t end there. In September 2025, I started J.A. DeMarco LLC and rebuilt from the ground up.
Then I went back to school while running the company. Now I’m finishing my final semester and graduating with my degree in finance.
I’m doing all of this so everyone remembers him, and to make him proud.
Semper Fi, Dad.
— Your son, Johnny
For as long as I can remember, I was at my dad’s side.
I ran the machines, plowed through winter storms, rode along to estimates and ran errands with him. I was his sidekick, the way every son wants to be with his dad. If he ever did work for you, you probably knew who I was, because I was right there with him: at estimates, in meetings, at presentations and on the job.
Some of my favorite memories are the long nights during winter storms, when we’d watch Pink Panther together. Those nights are what bond me to this work and to this company.
Every time someone asked me as a kid what I wanted to be when I grew up, I gave the same answer: I wanted to work with my dad. At 7½ I even wrote it down on my “All About Me” page at school. I got that wish, but never the way I pictured it. I always thought we’d be doing it together.
My mom left when I was 12, and she passed away in August 2022. My dad raised us, and he did it while running his company. Watching him do both is why this work, and this company, mean everything to me.
What I carry from him most is his work ethic and his attention to detail. He taught me in ways I didn’t realize at the time. Looking back, everything he did was getting me ready for the day this would be mine.
I went to Archbishop Williams High School, where I played Division 1 hockey and lacrosse in the Catholic Conference. By my senior year, I had customers of my own, and some of them are still with me today.
When I left for the University of Tampa to study finance, those customers didn’t find someone else. They waited for me to come home in the summer and at Thanksgiving to do their work. That kind of trust is what I’m building this company on.
When we lost my dad in April 2025, I was one semester from graduating, and I knew it was my time. My entire life, I watched him pour his blood, sweat and tears into this work. There was no way I was going to let that go unseen, so I came home and built J.A. DeMarco LLC to carry it forward.
I was 22, in a field full of men decades older than me. I had to prove myself on every job, and I still do.
Studying finance while running the company gave me the business side to go with the trade I grew up in. It feels like everything I’ve ever done led me exactly here, just without my dad beside me. It also taught me that I can do anything I put my mind to.
On every job, I ask myself what my dad would say if he were here. I can hear him the entire time I’m working.
We’ve grown from 50+ properties to 100+ residential and commercial properties across the South Shore. I graduate this December, and after that, this company gets all of me.
Over the next five years, I want to add electrical, plumbing and HVAC, so J.A. DeMarco LLC can be the one company you trust with everything at your house. Ten years from now, I want the people who watched us grow to be excited they were part of it.
My goal is to keep him remembered, to give him a voice through me, and to help others who are struggling. I believe that’s what God brought me here to do.
For our customers, it means you should always feel heard and always feel you can trust us. I want J.A. DeMarco LLC to be the name you trust with everything at your house: the lawn, the beds, the patio, the pest control and the snow. One call, one crew that knows your property, and every job done right, because our name is on the truck. Our own foremen run every job, we own our equipment, and when a job calls for a specialist, we bring in subcontractors we trust.
Most of all, I want my dad to be proud of me. That is my main goal.
